In a notable development for the residents of Mongdokha Chiwog, Dungna Gewog, the persistent issue of drinking water shortage has been resolved with the installation of a new safe water tap. This significant improvement marks a crucial step for the community, which has struggled with accessing clean drinking water for many years. The new water tap was inaugurated on June 8 in a ceremony attended by the site engineer and a team from the Dungna Gewog administration. The event also saw the presence of several senior citizens, highlighting the importance of this advancement for the entire community. In a meaningful gesture, the new water tap was blessed with prayers, symbolizing the residents’ hopes for a reliable water supply.

Lobzang, the Gup of Dungna Gewog, announced significant improvements to the area’s water supply infrastructure. Funded by the gewog’s budget, the initiative aims to alleviate the water supply issues that have long plagued the chiwog compared to its neighboring areas. “We recognized the urgency of addressing the water shortage in Mongdokha and have taken concrete steps to resolve it,” stated Gup Lobzang. The project includes both the installation of new water taps and the repair of old ones, ensuring the entire community benefits from improved access to water. The Gup expressed optimism that these efforts would significantly enhance the quality of life for the residents of Mongdokha Chiwog.

Nado expressed gratitude for the improved water access, stating, “Sometimes I used to fetch water from a very long distance, which was quite challenging. Now, with the water taps near my doorstep, it will be much easier to maintain cleanliness.” He emphasized that easy access to water is crucial for preventing sickness and maintaining good health.

Phuntsho, a local resident of Mongdokha Chiwog, expressed his satisfaction with the recent improvements in water infrastructure. “Previously, our water source was frequently disturbed by domestic animals, requiring daily maintenance. Now, the water sources are well-fenced, and we no longer face any water shortages. This has made it much easier to maintain cleanliness and stay healthy,” Phuntsho noted. The fencing of water sources has been particularly effective in ensuring a consistent and clean water supply, preventing contamination and reducing the need for constant upkeep. This has allowed residents to focus on other aspects of their lives, knowing that their water needs are securely met.

Similarly, Kinga, another resident of Mongdokha Chiwog, shared how the new water tap has positively impacted his life and that of his family. “Before, I lived with my family, but after getting married, my wife and I moved to a separate home. The installation of the new water tap has brought a lot of joy to both of us. We no longer have to worry about our water supply,” said Kinga. The reliable water supply allows them to focus on other aspects of their daily routine without the constant concern of fetching water. “Water supply makes everything better and clean,” added Kinga. The availability of clean water has alleviated many of the previous challenges faced by the residents, allowing them to maintain cleanliness and focus on their health.
