The most successful National Day

People and officials of Samtse got utmost satisfaction after they prepared for months and hosted the 111th National Day successfully.

D z o n g k h a g administration staff, Pema Chogay said that he has witnessed two National Day celebrations in Samtse, once in 2002. “Comparing with the last one, the 111th is one of the most successful and the happiest celebration,» he said.

Chief Education Officer and Cultural Coordinator during the celebration, Karma Chophel Sonam said that the National Day being a day of national importance, they were worried how it would turn out. “Everybody worked hard and gave their best under the guidance of Interim Government,” he said. The Dzongkhag Level Committee made several presentations, four times, to Interim Government. There were three months of cultural practices.

Officials attribute the success to the cooperation among the various partners. “With immense cooperation from different organizations, contractors, schools and gewogs, the National Day celebration went very well,” said Karma Chophel Sonam.

He said that all the people came forward to work together. Penden Cement Authority, contractors and gewogs have contributed fund. Bhutan Toilet Organization has arranged 60 additional toilets. Clean Bhutan has supported in cleaning. “There is nothing we can’t do if we cooperate and we got utmost satisfaction from our work,” Karma Sonam Chophel said.

The President of Samtse College of Education, who was the Chairman of the cultural program, Dr. Rinchen Dorji said, “I am feeling a great sense of relief with special sense of achievement and satisfaction for the grand successful National Day celebration with unique cultural program in presence of His Majesty The King, His Majesty The Fourth King, HRH Gyalsey, HH Je Khenpo, Royal Family and other dignitaries which had set new level of standard.”

“This will be rarest moments in my life that I shall cherish ever after.” The President said that he got call from various parts of the country giving impressive comments. For this, he thanked all involved in the historic event.

Samtse Dzongda, Sonam Wangyel said that they worked for 10 months but were also worried. He said many meetings were conducted and committees were formed. There were both experienced as well as inexperienced people. “However, it went as expected and we are happy that we could give highest satisfaction to the whole nation,” the Dzongda said. He said that there is bigger responsibility as His Majesty has commanded to keep the ground well.

Bishnu Bahadhur Mongar from Phuentsholing said that he was extremely happy to witness the National Day celebration. He said that unlike in the past, thousands of people came and lined up from evening only with the fear of not getting seat. “LCD screen was very big and good this time,” he added.

Khubraj Rai from Sibsoo said, “It was wonderful day to cherish.” He said that he Government gave free transportation and got to see helicopter.
