A. Primarily, it is my innate vocation, intertwined with a profound ardor for the artistry of hairstyling and the realm of beauty.

Q. What licenses and training do you possess in the field of hairstyling?
A. Following my comprehensive training in Delhi, India, I furthered my expertise by undertaking an advanced development course. Additionally, I was bestowed with an esteemed scholarship from His Majesty the King, which afforded me the chance to pursue a degree in Facial and Massage in Bangkok, Thailand. I am immensely appreciative of this exceptional opportunity and the invaluable knowledge it has bestowed upon me.

Q. How many years of experience do you possess as a hairstylist?

A. I have accumulated a wealth of 30 years working in the hairstyling domain. This occupation runs deep within my family lineage, as it is our hereditary calling. Following in the footsteps of my father, a seasoned hairdresser, I proudly continue this legacy as the 17th generation in my family to practice this esteemed profession. My unwavering dedication lies in preserving and nurturing this ancestral craft, ensuring its perpetual vitality.

Q. You are part of Desuup Program, and we would highly appreciate it if you could share your perspective on the level of challenges encountered and your overall experience thus far.
A. As a member of the esteemed Desuup (DSP) family, I express my heartfelt appreciation to His Majesty the King for bestowing this incredible opportunity upon us. Engaging in skill development programs like this is of paramount importance, as they foster entrepreneurship and empower individuals like myself. It brings me immense joy to train and guide the Desuup students who have wholeheartedly embraced this noble initiative set forth by His Majesty the King.
Desuups play a pivotal role in propelling the engine of our economy, and I firmly believe they will establish their livelihoods successfully. This profession offers a remarkable platform for a promising future, eliminating the need to wait for business opportunities as in other fields. Irrespective of the salon’s location, be it in Paro or elsewhere, we can attract clients from diverse areas. For instance, serving 20 clients in Paro at a charge of 100 nultrum per client would yield a daily income of 2,000 nultrum. Over the span of 30 days, this accumulates to 60,000 nultrum, which is a substantial and fulfilling earning.
In the past, this occupation was regarded as a blue-collar job, and individuals like us often faced societal prejudice. However, I am now elated to be part of the DSP as an instructor, witnessing the tremendous enthusiasm of these young individuals who join us without fully comprehending the immense potential and lucrative opportunities this profession offers compared to being a civil servant.

Q. How long have you been engaged in training under the Dessup Program?
A. I am currently training my third batch of aspiring professionals, and I take immense pride in the fact that the first and second batches have already successfully completed their training. They have now established their own salons, becoming valued members of the DSP family. The establishment of these salons serves the purpose of instilling confidence in them and providing valuable exposure to the industry. Our collective goal is to empower them to open their own salons, aligning with the mission set forth by His Majesty the King and shared by all of us in the DSP family. Together, we are diligently working towards fostering a flourishing community of skilled professionals.

Q. In light of the previously mentioned societal perceptions, how are the Desuups responding? Are they displaying interest?
A. Absolutely, the Desuups have taken proactive steps by venturing into the salon business. Two salons have already been established, one in Taba and another in Jongzhina. It is truly inspiring to witness the students taking the initiative and embracing their individual passions. They are genuinely enthusiastic about participating in this program because they now grasp the immense potential of this profession. They have come to realize that it is a once-in-a-lifetime investment with lifelong advantages. Their eagerness and commitment are palpable, and they find great joy in being part of this transformative journey. The Desuup program has equipped them with a comprehensive understanding of the profession, fostering a profound sense of purpose and unwavering dedication in their pursuit.

A. As a seasoned beautician and hairstylist, I provide extensive and inclusive training to both male and female students, adopting a unisex approach. The training encompasses a wide array of beauty and hairstyling aspects, ensuring that the students develop proficiency in diverse skills. This includes techniques for hair cutting, coloring, styling, and various treatments, along with expertise in skincare, makeup application, and nail care. Moreover, the training emphasizes effective client communication, efficient salon management, and staying abreast of the latest industry trends and techniques.
