Druk School, Thimphu received an invitation to participate in the esteemed 8th Reflection International event hosted by City Montessori School, Lucknow, India. The event is scheduled to take place from August 5th to 8th, 2023.
Itโs the first time a school from Bhutan has been invited to participate in this event within the South Asia region.
Phuentsho Tashi, principal of Druk School said, “A group of eight outstanding students, who have consistently demonstrated academic excellence across classes ranging from 8 to 12, are representing Druk School at this prestigious international event. They were selected as part of our ‘Academic Enhancement Project’ for the year 2023, which aims to inspire and motivate students to strive for academic brilliance. Our delegation comprises two dedicated escort teachers who will accompany our students, along with our esteemed Principal, who has been invited as a Guest of Honor”.
During the event, the delegation will be taking part in a diverse range of activities, including quizzes, debates, choreography, poster presentations, leadership legacy discussions, model displays, community service initiatives, and even a legal trial simulation in a Mock Courtroom.
The principal added, “We are delighted to share that City Montessori School, Lucknow, has generously sponsored the complete boarding and lodging for our delegation. In addition, we are excited to express our heartfelt gratitude for the sponsorship of our delegation’s travel expenses by the Indian Embassy. This support underlines the value of collaboration and a shared dedication to nurturing educational growth. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors for providing this incredible opportunity to our students and enabling them to shine on an international stage”.
The event’s debut on August 5 also featured a gripping quiz competition, engaging participants in a battle of wits and knowledge. Sonam Yuzin, a student in class X, said, “Overall, today was a great day if I exclude the heat we all almost died from. Actually, my Eureka partner and I were very nervous because we had to do the quiz, but now that it’s over, we feel very light and relaxed since we were stressing last night. But sadly, the quiz didn’t go well as it had dates and names of people that we had trouble remembering. In a nutshell, all the events held were very fun and exciting, especially the dances and the award-receiving cer-emony for their National academic toppers. It was a breathtaking and motivational event for us to see their amazing achievements, and it inspires us to work even harder and strive to achieve like them.”
Anisha Powdyel, a class 12 student, said, “Today’s event began with the registration of our school. I felt like a celebrity because whenever we walked past people, they complimented our school dress, which was very distinctive and beautiful. This made me truly happy and thankful to the great leaders who blessed us with such a unique culture and traditions. I could feel people staring at us, but those stares were of appre-ciation and curiosity. A student from CMS even told me that she thought the dress we were wearing was a costume. Soon, we gathered in the auditorium where Diksha and Meto successfully presented the wonder-ful deeds that Druk School had accomplished in the past few years (Endeavor).”
He added, “Overall, today was a great experience where I got to learn a lot about the intense passion and competition that actually exists in this world. It also allowed me to understand literature better and helped me improve my confidence as well as social skills by allowing me to interact with people from different nations and showcase my communication skills in front of a mass audience.”
Druk School was also accorded with the approval from the Department of Education, Ministry of Education and Skill Development for the event, where it stated that the event holds a great significance owing to the benefits it has on students in terms of expanding their knowledge and it clearly depicts the schoolโs unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
